Do You Represent an Organization that Represents Retirees? |

|
Recent changes in the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 (Section 31537) allow retirement systems to notify retiree organizations recognized by the Retirement Board of proposed changes to retirement benefits offered by the system. These organizations must formally represent retired employees of the county and/or special districts, and be recognized by the Retirement Board. Examples of such organizations are the Contra Costa County Retired Employees Association (CCCREA) and the Retirees' Support Group. The purpose of Section 31537 is to give retirees reasonable, advance notice of proposed changes to their benefits or the use of excess funds of the retirement system, and to create the opportunity for comment prior to any formal action by the Board. CCCERA wants to make sure we are aware of ALL organizations that represent retirees, so we can properly notify the membership. If you are the spokesperson or representative for a group we may not know about, please let us know! Email CCCERA at: We'd also appreciate a brief summary of your organization.
For example: CCCERA exists for the benefit of its members, both active and retired. Section 31537 is one more way we can "keep in touch" on the issues that affect all of us. Thanks! |
